Baseball Recap: Southside Christian Makes It 11 in a Row on the Road

Southside Christian had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Westchester Country Day Wildcats with a sharp 13-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-1 on Saturday.

The team relied heavily on Cole Atkins, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Cole Brancati was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-1.

Southside Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Southside Christian pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Westchester Country Day, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Southside Christian will face off against Palmetto at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Westchester Country Day, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Westchester Country Day Wildcats face off against High Point Christian Academy Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. High Point Christian Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Westchester Country Day surely won't give up without a fight.
