Football Recap: St. Marys Drops Season-High Score on Ridgway/Johnsonburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask St. Marys). They came out on top against Ridgway/Johnsonburg by a score of 32-22 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Flying Dutch.

Andrew Field went supernova, rushing for 175 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.8 yards per carry. That's the most rushing touchdowns he has posted since back in September of 2024. Frankie Smith got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Ridgway/Johnsonburg still got an impressive performance from Nathan Steger, who rushed for 134 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 7.9 yards per carry.

The win got St. Marys back to even at 2-2. As for Ridgway/Johnsonburg, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, St. Marys will head out on the road to challenge DuBois at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Flying Dutch will need to watch out since the Beavers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Ridgway/Johnsonburg, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Union/Allegheny-Clarion Valley's defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so Ridgway/Johnsonburg's offense will have their work cut out for them.
