Softball Recap: Warren Triumphs

Warren is still undefeated this season after their game against Chester on Saturday, but Chester came as close as anyone has to beating them. The Warriors came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Yellowjackets. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-22-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Kinley Fife made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 15 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Brenna Tillerson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Warren hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive contests.

Warren's record now sits at 11-0-1. As for Chester, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Warren will take on Kountze at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be the Warriors' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Chester, they will be playing at home against Onalaska at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
