Softball Recap: Rio Mesa Extends Winning Streak to Three

Rio Mesa entered their tilt with Santa Paula on Thursday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They came out on top against the Santa Paula Cardinals by a score of 12-7. With that win, the Spartans brought their scoring average up to 7 runs per game.

Analia Lopez was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Rio Mesa got a massive performance out of Sophia Roman, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. The dominant performance gave Roman a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Ambriz, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Rio Mesa always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive matchups.

Rio Mesa's record is now 3-1. As for Santa Paula, they dropped their record down to 1-4 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.
