            Softball Recap: Oxford Hornets vs. Great Valley Patriots        
        
		
        
        
            While it was Oxford who put the first  runs on the board on Wednesday, it was Great Valley who put up more. The Hornets fell just short of the Patriots by a score of  5-4. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their  loss the last time these teams played  back in April of 2024.
  Liliana Van Zyl made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in all four of her plate appearances. Those  stolen bases were  her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of  Isabella Polita, who  went 3-for-4 with one  triple and one  RBI.
Oxford's defeat was  their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which  dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Great Valley, their record now sits at 4-6.
 We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Oxford will  take on  rival Sun Valley  at 3:45  p.m.  on Thursday. Meanwhile, Great Valley is set to  challenge  their familiar foe Bishop Shanahan  at 3:45  p.m.  on Friday.
