Football Recap: Kenwood Knights vs. Dickson County Cougars
Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kenwood). They blew past the Dickson County Cougars, posting a 41-13 win at home. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Knights have posted since October 5, 2023.
It was another big night for Jakoby Cox, who rushed for seven yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 177 yards and a touchdown. A healthy portion of that aerial production (102 yards to be exact) went to Christian James.
Kenwood didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Malcolm Calhoun and James. Another thorn in Dickson County's side was Josiah Brown, who made 13 total tackles.
Devan Dugan and Quincey Blue certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dugan rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown, while Blue rushed for 49 yards. The dominant performance gave Blue a new career-high in rushing yards.
The win was the third in a row for Kenwood, bringing their record for this year to 3-5. As for Dickson County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.
Kenwood will head out on the road to square off against Kirkwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Kirkwood's defense has only allowed 10.8 points per game this season, so Kenwood's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Dickson County, they will host West Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
