Basketball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Wake Prep Academy

Wake Prep Academy entered their tilt with Falls Lake on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Falls Lake Firebirds 43-40. This was payback for the Guardians, who suffered a 59-13 loss the last time these two teams met.

Wake Prep Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Karly Beckstrand led the charge by putting up four points along with 11 boards and eight steals. Beckstrand is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Langton, who posted 13 points and five rebounds.

Wake Prep Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

Several Firebirds players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeneen Mason, who put up ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Williams, who earned ten points.

Wake Prep Academy's record is now 9-3. As for Falls Lake, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.

Wake Prep Academy has already played their next contest, a 57-35 win against Franklin Academy on the 16th. As for Falls Lake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-23 victory against Raleigh Charter on the 17th.
