Baseball Game Preview: Somerset Briar Jumpers vs. Greenwood Gators

The Somerset Briar Jumpers will head out to face off against the Greenwood Gators at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Somerset has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Greenwood will come in with three straight victories.

Somerset might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-2 to Trinity, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Somerset saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Loy, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was Loy's first of the season.

Meanwhile, Greenwood owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Tuesday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Warren East.

Somerset's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Somerset couldn't quite finish off Greenwood in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Briar Jumpers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
