Volleyball Recap: Xavier's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Xavier waltzed into their match on Saturday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Neenah Rockets. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Hawks also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2023.

Xavier's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bella Velasquez, who had nine digs and three aces. What's more, Velasquez posted three assists, the most she's had over her last ten games. Another player making a difference was Lily Renz, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Despite the loss, Neenah still got an impressive performance from Ella Lindgren, who had 19 digs and two assists. Lindgren has been hot, having posted ten or more digs the last five times she's played.

Xavier's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Neenah, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Xavier will welcome New London at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Neenah, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Franklin on the 30th.
