Baseball Game Preview: Floyd Central Highlanders vs. Jeffersonville Red Devils

The Floyd Central Highlanders will square off against the Jeffersonville Red Devils at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Floyd Central is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out New Albany 3-1.

Jeffersonville hadn't beaten Silver Creek on the road since April 13, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Wednesday. The Red Devils sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 win over the Dragons.

Jeffersonville got a great performance from Carter Williams as he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Williams has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jeffersonville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braylen Gray, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

The victory got Floyd Central back to even at 13-13. As for Jeffersonville, their win bumped their record up to 15-10.
