Volleyball Recap: Hiawatha Comes Up Short

Hiawatha lost against South Beloit back in October of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hawks fell 2-0 to the Sobos. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

While Hiawatha had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-18.

Delaney Wood paced Hiawatha's offense, picking up seven kills. Wood got some help from Mallory Banks and her 13 assists. Finally, Brielle Molloy kept Hiawatha's defense grounded, leading the team with five blocks.

Hiawatha's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for South Beloit, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season.

Hiawatha will welcome Christian Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for South Beloit, they will challenge Lincoln Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
