Baseball Game Preview: St. John Bosco Braves vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

The St. John Bosco Braves will venture away from home to face off against the Mater Dei Monarchs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. John Bosco is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

On Saturday, St. John Bosco was able to grind out a solid win over Servite, taking the game 5-1.

St. John Bosco got a great performance from Brayden Krakowski as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Krakowski has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Moises Razo, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was James Clark, who earned two RBI and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei came up short against JSerra Catholic on Wednesday and fell 6-2. The Monarchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

St. John Bosco pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Mater Dei, their loss dropped their record down to 13-8.

St. John Bosco couldn't quite get it done against Mater Dei in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Braves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
