Recap: Cornerstone Charter Cardinals vs. Bethany Wolves
The Cornerstone Charter Cardinals lost against the Bethany Wolves back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Cornerstone Charter fell to Bethany 34-30. Cornerstone Charter has not had much luck with Bethany recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Cornerstone Charter still got an impressive performance from Kaylen Williamson, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 rebounds. That was a full 46.7% of Cornerstone Charter's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamryn Stephens, who scored four points along with 12 rebounds and two steals.
Bethany was led to victory by Braelyn Pennix and Mattie Southard. Pennix scored five points along with seven rebounds and seven steals, while Southard scored 18 points along with five steals and three blocks. Another player making a difference was Hattiejo Hopper, who scored four points along with four steals.
Cornerstone Charter's loss dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Bethany, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-13 record this season.
Cornerstone Charter will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Leadership Academy at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Leadership Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Wednesday. As for Bethany, they will head out on the road to take on Piedmont Classical at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
