Basketball Game Preview: Providence Day Chargers vs. Ravenscroft Ravens

Providence Day is 9-1 against Ravenscroft since December of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Chargers will venture away from home to take on the Ravens at 5:30 p.m. Ravenscroft took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Providence Day, who comes in off a win.

Providence Day took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took down Wesleyan Christian Academy 58-39. The Chargers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Ginny Anne Dumont and Jaida McClure were among the main playmakers for Providence Day as the former shot 57% from the field en route to 19 points and six assists and the latter went 5-for-9 to rack up 15 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most assists Dumont has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Jane Updyke, who earned nine points and six steals.

Providence Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Ravenscroft was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Cardinal Gibbons 62-15.

Ravenscroft's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Providence Day, they pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

Providence Day was able to grind out a solid victory over Ravenscroft in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, winning 51-42. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
