Basketball Recap: Adriel Miller's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ponca City over Bixby

Ponca City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They fell 59-52 to the Bixby Spartans. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Spartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 51-41 loss back in January.

Ponca City lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Adriel Miller, who almost dropped a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in blocks (two). AJ Landes was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Ponca City's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Bixby, their victory bumped their record up to 8-17.

Ponca City and Bixby could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings. Ponca City will square off against Westmoore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday down 228 places (273 vs. 45). Similarly, Bixby (ranked 229th) will meet Union (ranked 13th) at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
