Volleyball Recap: Masconomet Regional Has No Trouble Against Peabody Veterans Memorial

After losing to Peabody Veterans Memorial the last time they met, Masconomet Regional decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Chieftains put the hurt on the Tanners with a sharp 3-0 victory on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Chieftains.

While Masconomet Regional might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Peabody Veterans Memorial scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 26-24, 25-22.

Masconomet Regional can attribute much of their success to Lidia Benedetto, who had nine digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave Benedetto a new career-high in assists (four).

Benedetto wasn't the only good servers: Masconomet Regional was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 12 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least nine aces in ten consecutive matches.

Masconomet Regional now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Peabody Veterans Memorial, the loss snapped their winning streak at three matches and leaves them with a 8-5 record.

Masconomet Regional wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Beverly on the 8th.
