Preview: Space Coast Vipers vs. Edgewood Red Wolves

Space Coast is 8-2 against Edgewood since November of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Space Coast is ranked 275th, while Edgewood is ranked 272nd).

Last Friday, things could have been worse for Space Coast, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-30 loss to Sebastian River. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Space Coast in their matchups with Sebastian River: they've now lost five in a row.

Space Coast's defeat came about despite a quality game from Taylor Hill, who scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Hill scored 15 or more points.

In what's become a running theme this season, Edgewood gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They put the hurt on Titusville with a sharp 48-26 victory. The win was familiar territory for Edgewood who now have four in a row.

Edgewood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Shelby Preble, who scored seven points along with eight steals. Preble hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Alaina Preble, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.

Space Coast's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Edgewood, their victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Space Coast came up short against Edgewood in their previous meeting back in January of 2023, falling 46-37. Can Space Coast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
