Louisville rivals will do battle after going to overtime twice last season versus each other.

Trinity (Louisville, Ky.) at Male (Louisville, Ky.)

Why it's big: Trinity puts its state No. 1 ranking on the line when it travels to No. 2 Male Friday night. The teams split a pair of thrilling overtime games last season, with Male winning in the regular season and Trinity taking a 38-31 decision in the 6A state quarterfinals. That ended a three-game winning streak for Male against the Shamrocks.

Both teams have rolled to 3-0 records with very little resistance so far this season. Trinity has outscored its competition by a combined score of 146-27. Male has crushed its foes 150-13.

Names to watch: This game could feature Kentucky's top two skill players, according to 247Sports' recruiting rankings. Trinity's Rodjay Burns caught four touchdown passes and returned a punt 83 yards for a score in a 70-14 blowout of Lafayette (Lexington) last week. Burns is a three-star prospect committed to Louisville as a defensive back.

Male's Keion Wakefield is also a three-star receiver prospect with a pledge to the hometown Louisville Cardinals. But the 5-foot-9, 170-pounder has yet to see the field in a regular-season game this year due to an ankle injury sustained in the preseason.
