Baseball Recap: Atlantic Christian Comes Up Short

If Atlantic Christian was riding high fresh off their 26-0 takedown of Inlet Grove last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Atlantic Christian Sharks lost 11-5 to the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles on Monday.

David Gonzalez was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Adon Herring was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. Another player making a difference was Micah Herring, who went 1-for-4 with one home run.

Atlantic Christian now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they pushed their record up to 7-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Atlantic Christian will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Glades Central at 3:30 p.m. As for Indian Rocks Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against King's Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King's Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
