Softball Recap: Lake Minneola Takes a Loss

Lake Minneola suffered their closest loss since March 6th on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Foundation Academy Lions by a score of 5-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 6-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Kaydence Schutte spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, Giselle Mccormick was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddy Hobby, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.

Lake Minneola has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season. As for Foundation Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-4.

Coming up, Lake Minneola will square off against Tavares at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Foundation Academy, they will welcome West Orange at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
