Soccer Recap: Burleson Comes Up Short

Burleson was the 4-1 winner over Cleburne when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Burleson Elks lost 5-2 to the Cleburne Yellowjackets on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Elks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 326th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 156th).

Annalynn Chavarria and Logan Tate scored both of Burleson's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Burleson's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5-1. As for Cleburne, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2-2.

Burleson has already played their next contest (against Mansfield Summit), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Cleburne will square off against Mansfield Timberview at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
