Baseball Recap: Covenant Christian Wins Going Away Against Orchard View

While Covenant Christian put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Orchard View. The Chargers put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 9-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-4 on Thursday.

Andrew Pastoor made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Josh Schuiteman was excellent, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was J.D. Schimmel, who earned one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

Covenant Christian's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-13. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Orchard View, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Looking ahead, Covenant Christian will square off against Allendale at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Chargers are facing the Falcons at the right time seeing as the Falcons are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Orchard View, they will venture away from home to face off against Grant at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
