Softball Game Preview: Maine West Warriors vs. Resurrection Bandits

Maine West hasn't had much luck against Resurrection recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Warriors will venture away from home to face off against the Bandits at 4:30 p.m. Maine West is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 11 games.

Maine West's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Niles North by a score of 4-0. That's two games straight that the Warriors have won by exactly four runs.

The team relied heavily on MCKAYLA GARNETT, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was ABIGAYLE GARCIA, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Resurrection not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 22, 2024 (when they won 15-0). They put the hurt on Payton College Prep with a sharp 11-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bandits, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Maine West's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Resurrection, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-11 record this season.

Maine West came up short against Resurrection in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, falling 9-6. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
