Baseball Recap: Tucson High Magnet School Takes a Loss

Tucson High Magnet School was the 9-1 winner over Sunnyside when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Badgers took a 10-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils on Tuesday. The Badgers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Tucson High Magnet School got a good showing from Luis Rodriquez, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off six hits. Rodriquez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Gabriel Morales and Gennaro Brito did some serious damage despite the final result: Morales scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Brito scored a run while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Uziel Castillo, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Tucson High Magnet School now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Sunnyside, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tucson High Magnet School will venture away from home to take on Rincon/University at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Badgers are facing the Rangers at the right time seeing as the Rangers are stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Sunnyside, they will head out on the road to challenge Cienega at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season.
