Softball Recap: Shaker Takes a Loss

After flying high against Albany on Thursday, Shaker came back down to earth. The Bison fell 5-1 to the Ballston Spa Scotties on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bison of the 13-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Talyn Chernosky spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.

On the hitting side, Shaker saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ruby Szemplinski, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Shaker has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Ballston Spa, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Shaker has already played their next contest, a 7-1 defeat against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake on the 12th. As for Ballston Spa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 6-3 loss against Ichabod Crane on the 11th.
