Baseball Recap: Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Vashon

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Vashon Wolverines a 15-0 shutout on Friday. The win was nothing new for the Tigers as they're now sitting on four straight.

Zachary Dowdy looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Central got a big performance out of Chapman Ogles, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Ogles is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 4-7 when he doesn't). Caden Chenoweth was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Central's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for Vashon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season.

Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 9-8 win against Pattonville on the 26th. As for Vashon, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Roosevelt at 4:30 p.m.
