Baseball Recap: Saugus Sachems vs. Danvers Falcons

Saugus had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 6-12 to make it five. They lost 8-2 to the Danvers Falcons. Surprisingly, this marked the Sachems' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Saugus saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Crawford, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Danvers, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8. They not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 21st (when they won 8-2).

On Danvers' side, Bryce Clark was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts Clark has posted since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Curcuru, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Danvers is 4-1 when Curcuru posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckett Wodarski, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Saugus will take on Essex North Shore Agric & Tech School at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Danvers, they will face off against Salem at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
