Basketball Game Preview: Ron Brown Monarchs vs. McKinley Tech Trainers

Having just played yesterday, the Ron Brown Monarchs will get right back to it and host the McKinley Tech Trainers at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ron Brown is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.

While Ron Brown didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 52-43 win over Model Secondary School for the Deaf on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Monarchs.

Ron Brown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lennox Walker led the charge by going 9 of 17 on his way to 19 points along with seven boards and four steals. Walker is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for five straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Darrin Rado, who posted ten points and five steals.

Ron Brown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, McKinley Tech's undefeated season came to an end after five games on Monday. They were outmatched by Cardozo and fell 63-36. The game marked the Trainers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Ron Brown will have to keep a close watch on DaMontae Neclos and Rico Zeno, a pair of players who had a big impact on McKinley Tech's prior game. Neclos put up ten points and five rebounds, while Zeno had eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, McKinley Tech fell to 5-1. As for Ron Brown, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.
