Softball Game Preview: Immanuel Eagles vs. Mt. Whitney Pioneers

The Immanuel Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Mt. Whitney Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Immanuel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.

Immanuel will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Saturday, then bounced right back against Firebaugh on Monday. Immanuel was the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Firebaugh. Immanuel hasn't had any issues with Firebaugh recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Natalia Delgadillo was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Efird, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mt. Whitney suffered their biggest defeat since February 26th two weeks ago. They came up short against Shafter, falling 13-2. The loss continues a trend for the Pioneers in their meetings with the Generals: they've now lost three in a row.

Mt. Whitney now has a losing record of 3-4-2. As for Immanuel, their win bumped their record up to 8-1-2.

Immanuel was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Whitney when the teams last played back in April of 2024, winning 6-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Immanuel since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
