Preview: Lucas Cubs vs. Loudonville Redbirds
Lucas is 10-0 against the Redbirds since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lucas Cubs will head out on the road to challenge the Loudonville Redbirds at 7:30 p.m. One thing working in Lucas' favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
Lucas put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They breezed by Elgin at home to the tune of 72-29. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Lucas had established a 36 point advantage.
It was another big night for Logan Toms, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Culler, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Loudonville was beaten by the Flames 91-49 on Monday. Loudonville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-24.
Lucas' win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28.9 points. As for Loudonville, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Lucas against the Redbirds when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 66-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lucas since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
