The Coronado Cougars will challenge The Classical Academy Titans at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Coronado has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
It was a proper cat-fight when Coronado took on Harrison on Thursday. The Cougars took an 11-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 5-0 in the first period.
Bentlee White was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (one).
On the hitting side, Billy Ratican was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple was his first of the season. Raunel Lopez-Reyes was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, The Classical Academy waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Scorpions with a sharp 11-5 win. Considering the Titans have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Chase Rorabaugh was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Zach Mediavilla, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coronado's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for The Classical Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .347. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coronado might still be hurting after the 17-4 defeat they got from The Classical Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
