Football Recap: Sumter County Piles Up the Points Against Spencer

Sumter County barely beat Spencer the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Greenwave 51-14. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six contests by 29 points or more so far this season.

Ishmael Jones produced another solid effort rushing for 62 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 125 yards and one TD.

Sumter County pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.7 points over those games. As for Spencer, they moved to 3-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Sumter County will look to defend their home field on Friday against Carver at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Spencer, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Shaw at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Greenwave will be up against the Raiders' rather soft defense (which has allowed 33.29 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
