Softball Game Preview: Golden Gate Titans vs. Mason Classical Academy Paladins

The Golden Gate Titans will take on the Mason Classical Academy Paladins at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Golden Gate will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

Golden Gate is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against South Fort Myers on Thursday as they made off with a 29-14 victory. With that win, the Titans brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.

Golden Gate got a massive performance out of Nicol Romero-Camargo, who scored four runs and stole nine bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those nine stolen bases gave Romero-Camargo a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jj (Jaylene) Gutierrez, who scored four runs and stole eight bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

Golden Gate kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 2.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 13.8.

Meanwhile, Mason Classical Academy fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Neumann on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Celtics by a score of 3-2. The Paladins just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Golden Gate pushed their record up to 4-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.0 runs over those games. As for Mason Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
