Softball Recap: Roosevelt's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Roosevelt dropped their record down to 5-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They came up short against the School Without Walls Penguins, falling 29-8. If the Roughriders were looking for revenge after losing 19-3 to the Penguins when the teams met back in March of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kennedy Cary was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mell Maloney Lopez, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

As for School Without Walls, they pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The result was nothing new for the Penguins, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On School Without Walls' side, Harper Barlow was incredible, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. Barlow is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Anna Morelli was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

As of now, neither Roosevelt nor School Without Walls have any future games scheduled.
