Basketball Recap: Our Lady of the Elms Takes a Loss

Our Lady of the Elms played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix and fell 57-20. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

Our Lady of the Elms lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Heaven Thorn, who posted five points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. The dominant performance gave Thorn a new career-high in blocks. Lucia Rossetti also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Andrews Osborne Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Alejandra Gil led the charge by dropping a double-double on 21 points and ten steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Gil has scored at least a third of Andrews Osborne Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Jamiyah Dye, who earned 15 points along with six boards and five assists.

Our Lady of the Elms has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Our Lady of the Elms will be playing at home against Mentor Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Andrews Osborne Academy has already played their next contest, a 42-26 defeat against Open Door Christian on the 27th.
