Basketball Game Preview: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. Olympic Trojans + How To Watch

The Central Cabarrus Vikings and the Olympic Trojans will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Cabarrus will be strutting in after a win while Olympic will be coming in after a loss.

Central Cabarrus took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They skirted past Butler 39-37. While the Vikings didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Myajah Nix was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 20 boards. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. Felicity Arevalo was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Central Cabarrus smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 29 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Olympic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Monroe and fell 76-40. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 430th, while the Redhawks are ranked 165th).

Central Cabarrus will have to contain Chaya James as she made an impact in Olympic's last game. She dropped a double-double with 29 points and 13 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahmece McMurray, who scored three points and eight assists.

Olympic's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Central Cabarrus, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.
