Baseball Game Preview: Pershing County Mustangs vs. Oasis Academy Bighorns

The Pershing County Mustangs will take on the Oasis Academy Bighorns at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pershing County has given up an average of 10.3 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Pershing County's offense. They lost 14-0 to Yerington last Saturday. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the team, making it three in a row.

Pershing County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wyatt Hughes, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Oasis Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Yerington on Saturday and fell 7-5.

Joshua Gusewelle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Ryder McNabb was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Oasis Academy's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-3. As for Pershing County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Pershing County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Oasis Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Pershing County might still be hurting after the 25-8 loss they got from Oasis Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
