Basketball Recap: Hickory Grove Christian Lions vs. Metrolina Christian Academy Warriors
The Hickory Grove Christian Lions waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They came out on top against Metrolina Christian Academy by a score of 53-43. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Hickory Grove Christian also won the last time the pair played last Saturday.
Hickory Grove Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Shelby Blazi out in front who scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and two steals. Blazi is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 12 or more in the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Feaster, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and five blocks.
Despite the loss, Metrolina Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Alaina Griffin, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and five steals. That was a full 76.7% of Metrolina Christian Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hadley Martin was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 13 rebounds.
Hickory Grove Christian's win bumped their record up to 9-12. As for Metrolina Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home.
Hickory Grove Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Metrolina Christian Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Stallions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
