Basketball Recap: Pearland Piles Up the Points Against Dobie

A well-balanced attack led Pearland over Dobie in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Pearland Oilers blew the Dobie Longhorns out of the water with a 76-26 final score. The Oilers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Pearland was led to victory by Eliece Perry and A?Zyua Blair. Perry dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 boards, while Blair went 7 of 17 on her way to 20 points along with six assists and five steals. The game was Blair's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anita Nwosu, who posted ten points and eight boards.

Pearland smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Pearland has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.4 points per game. As for Dobie, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-12.

Pearland will take on Pasadena Memorial in a holiday battle at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pearland is facing Pasadena Memorial at the right time seeing as Pasadena Memorial is stuck on a five-game losing streak. Dobie and South Houston will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
