Hudson's last matchup with Sunlake could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Thursday. Hudson came up short against Sunlake, falling 15-3. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 20, 2023, but that streak is no more.
Hudson saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alivia Evans, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Gulf came up short against Dunedin on Thursday and fell 6-1. The loss continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their meetings with the Falcons: they've now lost eight in a row.
Jeovanna Carter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 17 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Julianna Carter made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Hudson dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Gulf, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Gulf's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hudson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. It's a different story for Gulf, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Hudson's hitters?
Everything went Hudson's way against Gulf in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Hudson made off with a 17-1 win. Will Hudson repeat their success, or does Gulf has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
