Basketball Recap: Ennis Takes a Loss

Ennis extended their losing streak to ten on Tuesday, dropping them down to 5-17. They were beaten by the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars 52-22. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1002nd, while the Jaguars are ranked 199th).

When it comes to explaining why Ennis lost, don't look at Dawn Hicks. Despite the final result, she posted six points.

As for Midlothian Heritage, their victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.8 points on average over those games.

Midlothian Heritage can attribute much of their success to Bri Finch, who earned 20 points. Finch continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Nelms, who had eight points.

Ennis has already played their next matchup, a 59-41 loss against Corsicana on the 16th. As for Midlothian Heritage, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-24 victory against Kaufman on the 16th.
