Softball Recap: Aloha Comes Up Short

Mountainside hit Aloha with a four-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Warriors came up short against the Mavericks, falling 9-1. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mavericks earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Chiyori Brumley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aloha saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophia Rider, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.

Aloha's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Mountainside, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Aloha will take on rival Jesuit at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Mountainside is set to challenge their familiar foe Southridge at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
