Softball Game Preview: Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights vs. Veritas Academy

The Hill Country Christian School of Austin Knights will face off against Veritas Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Hill Country Christian School of Austin's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last six games.

Hill Country Christian School of Austin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Texas School for the Deaf 20-5 on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Rangers: they've now won six in a row.

Saylor Singleton and MC Gilliam did most of the damage at the plate: Singleton went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs, while Gilliam got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Those six RBI gave Singleton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Addison Stanley, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Hill Country Christian School of Austin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .867. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .524 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Veritas Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road back in February. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valor South Austin a 20-0 shutout back in March.

Elsa B was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. B was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Becka Leyendecker was excellent, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

Hill Country Christian School of Austin's record now sits at 10-6. As for Veritas Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.

Hill Country Christian School of Austin might still be hurting after the 14-4 defeat they got from Veritas Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
