Volleyball Recap: Ridgefield Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with New Canaan + How To Watch

Ridgefield faced New Canaan in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Tigers came up short against the Rams, falling 3-0. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Ridgefield took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-11, 25-18.

Sonia Gaughran paced Ridgefield's offense, picking up six kills. Gaughran got some help from Brenna Williams and her 15 assists. Gaughran also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Elizabeth Campbell, each putting up two.

Helena Jan was a one-woman wrecking crew For New Canaan. as she had six digs and four aces. Those four aces gave Jan a new career-high.

Ridgefield's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for New Canaan, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-2 record this season.
