Softball Recap: Hilltop Comes Up Short

If Hilltop was riding high fresh off their 11-0 takedown of Vista on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lancers lost 14-4 to the Olympian Eagles on Wednesday. The Lancers were not able to make up for their loss to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.

Hilltop saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Olivia Mertz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs. Ninoshka Castro was another, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run.

Hilltop's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11-1. As for Olympian, they moved to 6-8-2 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Coming up, Hilltop is taking a road trip to challenge Sweetwater at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Lancers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Devils have averaged an impressive 8.9 runs per game this season. As for Olympian, they will be playing at home against Santana at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sultans have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
