Softball Recap: Rushville Comes Up Short

Rushville extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 4-12 in the process. They came up short against the East Central Trojans, falling 18-8. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Trojans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-6 two weeks ago.

Heidi Stanley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. Those hits were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Macy Blevins, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

As for East Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games.

On East Central's side, Rose Yunger looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Avery Seal was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlie Scully, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Rushville has already played their next contest, a 6-0 loss against Greensburg on the 12th. As for East Central, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Connersville on the 12th.
