Baseball Game Preview: Newton Cardinals vs. Pella Dutch

Newton hasn't had much luck against Pella recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Cardinals will host the Dutch at 5:00 p.m. Newton will be strutting in after a win while Pella will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, Newton earned an 8-4 victory over Pella Christian. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cardinals.

Meanwhile, Pella came up short against Dallas Center-Grimes on Friday and fell 5-2. The Dutch haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Newton pushed their record up to 3-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Pella, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.

Newton couldn't quite finish off Pella when the teams last played back in July of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
