Volleyball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

If Madison was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Kearny last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warhawks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morse Tigers on Wednesday. The Warhawks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Madison came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 26-24, 19-25, 28-26.

Leading Morse to victory were Jhiovanni Lacosta and Jacob Frijas. Lacosta had six digs, two blocks, and two aces, while Frijas had 20 digs and two assists. The dominant performance also gave Lacosta a new career-high in assists (48).

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for Morse, they pushed their record up to 16-14 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Madison will challenge University City at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morse, they will square off against San Diego at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
