Softball Recap: Tyler Legacy Comes Up Short

Tyler Legacy blew Mesquite out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Mesquite got their revenge. The Tyler Legacy Raiders fell just short of the Mesquite Skeeters by a score of 11-9. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Raiders have suffered since February 24, 2024.

ReNaa Hicks was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hadison Maxey, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run.

Even though they lost, Tyler Legacy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in five consecutive games.

Tyler Legacy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Mesquite, the win got them back to even at 5-5-1.

The future could be bright for both Tyler Legacy and Mesquite: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Tyler Legacy will look to extend Killeen's five-game losing streak when they meet at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Similarly, Mesquite will try to hand Bishop Lynch their third-straight loss when the two meet at 10:45 a.m. on Thursday.
