Basketball Recap: Shroder Paideia Academy Takes a Loss

Shroder Paideia Academy lost against DePaul Cristo Rey back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Shroder Paideia Academy Jaguars fell just short of DePaul Cristo Rey by a score of 49-47.

Despite the loss, Shroder Paideia Academy saw an underclassman step up: freshman London Armstrong went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points and five boards. That was a full 36.2% of Shroder Paideia Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Nina Calloway, who earned ten points.

DePaul Cristo Rey's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makiah Taylor-Nichols, who put up 11 points. That's the most points Taylor-Nichols has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Nyeemah Pickens, who had 11 points.

Shroder Paideia Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for DePaul Cristo Rey, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-4.

Shroder Paideia Academy has already played their next matchup, a 64-26 win against School for Creative Performing Arts on the 28th. DePaul Cristo Rey has also already played their next game (against Cincinnati College Prep Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
